[21:06] Everything has been moved to a northern camp. [21:07] so you follow their directions [21:07] Eventually you come to a massive town, ringed with a wooden fence of spiked poles [21:07] there are barbarians at the gates, on the inside, and they look like they are supposed to be there. [21:08] the town is mostly tents but there are a few wooden buildings as well. [21:08] Suddenly, you hear a shout, and the gates open. When they do, you see Vanal standing before you. [21:08] [Vanal this is maris' ruling camp] [21:09] * Tala raises a hand and waves [21:09] [alrighty] [21:09] * Vanal walks in, a long gray coat made of some strange kind of leather ove rhis usual combat attire [21:09] "Hail Cathak Vanal." [21:10] "Good to see you again, Tala." [21:10] it is spring, right after the first thaw. [21:10] You note that there are many barbarians here, almost too many. It seems like they are getting ready to go somewhere. [21:11] "It appears I have missed much in my seclusion." [21:11] "So, like what Maris and I have done with the place ?" [21:11] "So you have gathered the tribes in one place?" [21:12] "He did the talking, I did the training." [21:13] "We've got 3 legions worth.: [21:13] "Amazing...But why?" [21:15] * Tala wears a white silk blindfold, but she does not appear to have any trouble looking in your direction [21:15] "What happened to your eyes ?" [21:15] "Anathema? So many? On this small island..." [21:16] "Don't ask me, I didn't do the recon." [21:16] * Tala smiles. I have no difficulty with my eyes. [21:19] "I do not have much use for a shield, as I use both of my hands to fight, however you or one of the others might find it useful. [21:19] * Tala hands over the shield, obviously having dificulty with its weight as she did not attune it [21:20] "I've always wanted one of these things. Can finally ditch that little dinner plate of a shield I've got." [21:22] "thanks very much my dear immaculate. And as for all the troops up here, we're trying to negociate Maris' release. If that fails, well, we'll see if I'm as good a trainer as drill Instructor Illych was back at the House." [21:22] the Trusted Lutenient walks up to Vanal, in full nativish armor and makeshift sword strapped to his waist. He waits for your acknolwedgement. [21:23] "Maris' release?" [21:23] "My lord, the dragon is ready to move out" he says in broken high realm. then he bows, awaiting your orders [21:23] "Those sons of bitches have got him. Pardon me a moment..." [21:24] "Perfect, send them to waypoint Mela, and have them hold sentry there." [21:24] He nods and turns, shouting orders in nativish [21:24] they begin to pack up camp. [21:25] "Yes, anyways, the anathema've caught him. I think we stirred things up too quickly, and got their attention." [21:25] * Tala frowns [21:26] "Where are we off to then? And where are the others?" [21:27] "Jynaru's been stomping around the wilderness, Tei cic and Tabs are MIA, good riddance, Irin and Shak are waiting at Mela." [21:28] "and we're headed to this point here *points on the map* as a staging area." [21:29] * Tala pauses "Missing? How long have Tei and Tabius been missing?" [21:30] "Last I saw them was a bit after the Unclean was killed." [21:30] * Vanal shrugs [21:30] "Ah...So they told you." [21:31] * Tala follows Vanal [21:31] * Vanal nods "They did. But that's the past." [21:31] "Look, go with my men, I have a few matters to attend to before I link up." [21:31] * Tala nods [21:32] "The commanders can speak passable High Realm." [21:32] it takes about half an hour for them to begin to leave the camp in numbers. They are clearly still unused to formations but manage to at least keep in decent lines on their way out [21:32] "What of Tei, you said you saw him. He seemed to have lost his way when last I saw him. I feared for him while I was away." [21:32] "Very briefly, like, a glimpse." [21:33] "Can't say anything." [21:33] * Vanal shrugs [21:33] * Tala frowns [21:34] "Look, if you link up with any of the others, get them to the staging point." [21:34] "It seemed like the Anathema's spell did not break immediately upon his death. I feared it might not break for Tei had expressed some confusion in the past." [21:34] * Vanal nods [21:35] "I'm not going to say I know ANYTHING about souls, spells, or any of that kind of stuff. But if you find him, keep a close eye on him." [21:35] "Where is the staging point then?" [21:35] * Tala nods [21:36] * Vanal point sit out [21:36] (on a map) [21:36] "right there. My men know the way." [21:36] * Vanal nods and heads off to take care of business [21:36] [one week later] [21:37] Cicada, Tabius, Tei, Jynaru, and Minnow are standing in the Solar Plaza, awaiting the time when they must make their pleas heard. [21:38] For the most part it is empty, except for maybe a dozen supplicants, 3/4 of which are dragon blooded. [21:38] You are waiting for the leader of the city to arrive [21:39] I'd prefer not having to rp out my part, I did'nt really prepare an argument, or even a problem [21:39] ok [21:39] You're just watching with Cicada. At dawn, the Solar empresses arrives to the Plaza, to the silent respect of her citizens, and to the sounds of trumpets playing int he background [21:45] "Make your declarations and begone; you will have my word on the manner sent to you at the evening court. [21:46] [me?] [21:46] After her words the supplicants begin to speak, one at a time, clockwise around the square [21:46] you are second to last, by where you are standing. [21:46] [good get time to measure her] [21:46] For the most part the proclimations are short and to the point; apparently the solar is not one to like mincing words. [21:46] [Too bad she might be irritable and tired when it is my turn] [21:47] She seems to actually listen though, her golden skin glinting off her skin in the morning sun. [21:47] [Tei will be in the circle somwhere with his problem] [21:47] [Well, can always continue the interview in the torture chambers:)] [21:47] She has green locks of hair that fall to her waist, and is wearing a simple, white gown with just a hue to gold. [21:47] Tei just give me a short declaration of what you want her to hear. [21:49] For the most part the declarations have to do with numbers. so many troops sent east. This many people have been born, that many have died. The latest economics standpoint. Apparently she is playing chess by courier with one of the other cities as well, for he declares the move ( a check, of course) [21:50] * Tabius and Minnow are standing amongst the crowd seemingly eager to get a glimps of the Empress. [21:51] Tei, you are just informing her of your presence or what? [21:51] "The tample of the Immaculates would like the succesion of a small tract of farmland that was promised to us 3 years ago. In that time we have not been able to use the land as one of you're feild forces will not break the camp the have there. I wil remind you that when the four feather anaconda tribe attempted to hold the land, it was the Immaculates who bore the brunt of the fighting to drive them off. [21:53] "My Lady, I bring word as an emmisary from Forked River, the spirit. A complaint. A warning. And a offer." [21:54] she listens as she has listened. [21:55] "The warning first; To the immideate east of here a barbarian force has risen as you already know. They are weak but could still disturb your planned offencive against Fallen Tounge and open you to a counterattack from him." [21:56] To secure yourself against the barbarians you need to protect your farmlands to the south. Forked River can block any movement over his waters and has promised to do so in return for a few favors." [21:57] "By complying you can secure your southern frontier and proceed with the offencive. You might even be able to secure the new barbarian nation as an ally against Fallen Tounge." [21:57] She listens silently, respectfully listening to your proclimation. [21:58] "Forked River, and I speak here as his priestess, wants a temple build to him in every city so that offerings and earnest prayers can be offered every day by an loyal priesthood. And as many of the dams as possible taken down, except for the sea shields." [21:59] "In return Forked River himself will become as a soldier in your holy war." [22:00] "Thus I speak and promise on behalf of Forked River, and in the hope of the mighty Solar lords seeing reason." [22:00] * Cicada bows deeply and returns to her place. [22:01] She nods to you and looks to the next supplicant, who steps forward. [22:01] "My lady, I am here to announce that the Barbarian King, Maris, has been captured and will arrive here at noon for display." [22:01] He smiles and steps back to the circle. [22:02] * Jynaru blinks sleepily. "Barbarian king Maris?" [22:02] At that a long wistle comes from somewhere in the crowd, which is quickly silenced by a flying arrow [22:02] * Cicada is surprised, but there are other people that she would feel more sorry for seeing tortured to death. [22:03] * Cicada looks in the direction the arrow flew. [22:03] it was from the walls surrounding the plaza [22:03] from a guard [22:03] Two more guards are making their way towards the person the arrow hit.. [22:03] and then you hear it. [22:03] THUMP [22:04] then, again. THUMP [22:04] coming from the east, where the solar plaza opens to. [22:04] you cannot see anything due to the large buildings directly opposite to the plaza though. [22:05] the thumping increases until it is like a train coming [22:05] * L_Jynaru (Fiat@dsc03-ati-ga-3-117.rasserver.net) has joined #pvpexaltedrp [22:05] The solar empress stands, looking out over the plaza towards the sound, eyes narrowing as her hands grip, as if holding a sword.. but still nothing is in her hands. [22:06] * Tabius tries to figure out what is coming, is he familuar with the Thumping sound? [22:06] Then a line of swordsmen arrive, stopping in front of the entrance to the plaza... [22:06] * Cicada wishes she had more than the knife hidden on Sanyet's back. [22:06] * Tei lays hands on his blades [22:07] * Tabius makes no movement watching everything entently. [22:07] * Vanal turns the corner to the plaza, all 15 feet of orichalcum and jade gleaming and stops a good 20 feet from the line of swordsman, a gigantic tree held in his gleaming metal hands [22:07] * Tei forgets himself and swears [22:08] "I suggest you *move*" [22:08] * Cicada smacks her forehead. [22:08] the swordsmen move for Vanal [22:08] * L_Jynaru looks at the Warstrider. "Somebody slap me. I must be dreaming." [22:08] * Tabius almost wants to laugh, but doesn't. [22:08] More swordsmen follow him, apparently backing him up. [22:08] "Well, I suppose it will drive home the urgency of dealing with the barbarian nation... (sigh)" [22:09] including Tala, who is in black jade armor. [22:09] * Vanal swings the tree in a shallow arc sweeping it across ground level, kickign up stone and shards of wood s he slams it into the flank of the incoming swords men like a scythe through bloody wheat, sending them sailing through the air and slamming into the wall of a nearby building [22:09] The solar empress glares at you, her head glinting in a hollow sphere. [22:09] She holds up her hand and all remaining guards back off... [22:10] though the archers on the wall ready their bows, they are not drawn [22:10] "I asked politely." [22:10] "I've come here to negociate for my friend." [22:11] * Tala arrives also, black jade claws strapped to her hands, and black jade chainmail protecting her body. While she wears a white silk blindfold, her head turns slowly, as if she is looking at everything carefully [22:11] She looks at you coldly, then nods. [22:11] "You will hear the response at nightfall as will the rest of the supplicants. [22:12] she looks at Vanal with cold eyes. "You are lucky that I am such a benin princess, or you would be dead where you stand, fool." [22:12] * Tei takes his hands from his blades upon seeing van [22:12] She spins from her dias and walks back into her castle [22:13] (LR) "I think she likes me." [22:13] The archers watch you as a single man in glistening orichlum armor leaps off the tower and walks towards Vanal. [22:14] his sword is sheathed, but he looks ready to use it. [22:14] * Vanal looks at the man [22:14] * Tei does'nt know whether to laugh or cry, maybe both [22:14] * Vanal sets the tree down [22:14] * Cicada quietly asks Sanyet for names on the man, even as she nearly cover behind him. [22:14] He looks up at the approximately 10 feet height advantage you have on him. [22:15] "That would be He Who Rises from Snow, the Guardsman of the Solar Court. Her only son.. a god blooded." [22:15] * Tala stands a safe distance from Vanal in his warstrider, but watches the swordsman." [22:15] * Cicada is ready to get Sanyet behind her, should it get necessary to demonstrate the actual difference in power between them, though. [22:15] "Can I help you, sir ?" [22:15] "Sir Vanal, you have disturbed the peace of our city." [22:16] "I only disturbed the peace after you kidnapped my friend." [22:16] "He is being treated civilly. And will be returned in one month should he accept our proposal." [22:16] "Now you will stand down." [22:16] "OR you will share his fate." [22:17] * Vanal nods, his armor mimicking the movement [22:17] * Tabius is waiting and holding his breath. [22:17] * L_Jynaru slaps himself, and seems surprised when the scene doesn't go away. [22:17] "I have no desire for further bloodshed." [22:18] He nods as well, moving his hand from his sword. [22:18] " [22:18] "that's a first. [22:19] he crosses his arms, looking amusedly and completely without fear at the hulking form above him. [22:19] "You and your troops follow me." [22:19] * Vanal nods and shouts out an order to follow in Barbarian [22:19] he turns and heads north [22:20] * Vanal follows [22:20] * Tala studies this man, looking for signs of essence flowing around his body [22:20] Vanal and his troops are soon out of sight, though the stomping continues. [22:20] He is clearly a god blooded of some power. [22:20] His armor and weapon are both powerful artifacts. [22:20] By twinkery, he is probably as strong as any of you, one on one. [22:21] Meanwhile the solar plaza begins to empty out. [22:21] like this kind of thing happens every day. [22:21] "well, life has never been dull since I met these people." tei say to himself [22:22] Minnow smiles amusingly at herself [22:22] * L_Jynaru blends into the crowd and heads after the shiny guy. (the last part loud enough that anyone of the group standing nearby can hear) [22:24] he shakes his head laughing, taking you in his arms and looking deeply into your eyes. [22:35] * Tabius tries to have a conversation about the old Solar from back then and what they were like, mostly if they were kind or cruel. [22:37] The guardian arrives at a large hall, climbing up the stairs and throwing open the doors. Within is a long table with a feast spread upon it. Enough seats are there to fit you all, and the hall is lined with private rooms that you could divide among your troops. [22:37] He bows to Vanal. [22:37] "Thank you, sir." [22:37] "Come 15 minutes before sundown." [22:37] * Vanal gives a semi-polite bow back [22:37] "There will be one ring of the gong half an hour before then." [22:37] "I'll be ready." [22:38] He bows and leaves, heading back to the plaza. [22:38] * Vanal dusts off his coat and scowls [22:39] * Vanal turns to his XO "Bet you 2 drinks that Tabius is gonna be through that door within 5 minutes." [22:39] he laughs and stands next to you. [22:40] Tala one of Vanals men tap you on the shoulder and hands you a note. [22:40] * Vanal seats himself down and helps himself to an apple [22:40] * Tala opens the note [22:41] The note is from jynaru. It tells you where he is standing and to come meet him. [22:43] Unwilling to trust anything in this place, knowing the deceptive powers posessed by the Anathema, Tala tells Vanal that she goes to meet Jynaru by her self before setting off for the place in the note [22:44] * Tei passes Tala on her way out, now wearing a pair of wicked looking short daklaves, and a red jade shash across his chest holding a clear blue hearthstone. He is dressed in red robes trimmed in white. [Tala will know that denotes a monk who has mastery of both fire and air forms] [22:45] * Vanal nods [22:45] Tala you make your way to the glazing saddle, where Jynaru has his rooms. They were okay, I guess, though they had silly ideas. Like trapping the reformed fetish instead of killing it right out. Silly bastards." [22:56] [minnow] "I wouldn't know, I went to sleep long ago. [23:00] "Well, I kinda figured with the guy leading you around they weren't going to let everybody out and in the city at once. I'm tired of not knowing what the hell is going on, and it seems like I'll have to ask Van. That was him in the thing, right?" [23:00] "I was able to move freely." [23:08] * Tei runs a hand over the warstrider [23:08] * L_Jynaru wanders around and collects a few items and will follow Tala to Vanal.
