[20:51] * Cicada after having put a jade in the cup. [20:52] * Jynaru looks at Cicada and frowns slightly, before tossing in a jade bit as his stakes for the hand. [20:52] * Cicada gives Sanyet a light approving nod for not wasting money. [20:53] Sanyet picks up his cards to look at them with a blah look on his face before putting them back down [20:54] * Cicada looks at her new hand and her face lighten up. She adds two jade bits to the cup. [20:54] * Jynaru considers the hand before looking at the shiney rock. "So, what is this thing, anyway? [20:55] * Jynaru tosses in the couple of bits as an afterthought. [20:55] "Eh, just a necklace. Pretty though, eh? black skatite for luck." [20:56] Sanyet looks between the two players [20:56] * Cicada looks nervously between her hand and Jyn's face. [20:57] * Jynaru fans the cards out into a 5-pointed star and back to normal as he looks blandly at Cicada. [20:58] "Amusing. When luck's part of the stakes, you lose. I'll have to remember that." The hill seems to flatten off at the top, and Jynaru seems to be standing at the edge of something [21:43] * Cicada helps Sanyet with his horse, then walks over to Jynaru. [21:43] * Jynaru takes the ring off of his finger and tosses it into the pool of water. "Rather too bad it's not night-time. I'll have to show you the way it was when I found the place." [21:44] At the top of the hill there is a small pool, filled with tiny pieces of gravel. Jynaru's ring plinks into the water, with no appearant effect [21:44] it would make a nice hot tub, if the water was hot [21:45] "Anyway, through there." [21:45] * Jynaru gestures at the pool. [21:45] Sanyet looks dubiously at the pool [21:45] "Through what?" [21:45] he shifts his pack on his back [21:45] "We jump in?" [21:45] "We jump in the pool?" [21:45] "Yeah. Through the bottom. Sanyet stumbles and nearly falls, but cicada reaches out just in time as Jynaru lands behind the two of you in an empty [21:52] (Cuts off at in an empty) [21:52] room shaped like a pentagron. the yellow green-tinted glass walls and five ivory doors surround you, and five inanime statues of nude women sit sedately in the corner, one hand clasped open, the other hand as if grasping something [21:52] (i know, I figured i'd type half and half) [21:53] Sanyet straightens as he looks around. Jynaru's ring is in one of the maiden's hands [21:54] other than that you are alone [21:54] * Jynaru goes to the maiden and reclaims his ring. "Thought so. HEY! DUDE!" [21:54] no response [21:55] "Your teacher is out fishing?" [21:55] "Or is he just shy with young women?" [21:55] "Beats me. Come on, we'll check his room." [21:56] * Jynaru heads down the purple hallway and knocks on each door a couple of times as he passes. [21:56] * Cicada follows Jynaru's lead somewhat wearily, keeping a good look out for traps and remembering the way they came. [21:56] *Sanyet laughs, taking cicada's hand again as he follows jynaru through one of the ivory doors, which opens into a long hallway with rooms to either side, and an embossed circle on it. Is this where she is going to lose him? [21:58] "Maybe he's in the downstairs thing." [21:58] * Jynaru heads blithely along to the orrery thing and the flower clock. [22:00] Sanyet feels cicada's fear and wraps his arm around her, stopping to hold you gently for a moment before following jynaru around the corner. a t-intersection, he heads down it towards a bend in the curve and down a flight of stairs you go, until you make it to a strange garden with two hanging globes (sun and moon) and a black with-speckled silver ceiling [22:00] you can hear two voices quietly conversing to your left [22:00] * Jynaru looks around and calls out. [22:01] the voices stop, then "In here, jynaru!" [22:02] [22:02] * Jynaru shrugs and heads that way, wondering when the second person got here. [22:04] Jynaru leads cicada and sanyet through a hall with strange, overlapping, almost organic walls of five different colors, into a large, well lit room with several round tables, and one long flat table on a wall. [22:05] At one of these round tables sits two men, one elderly (fiat's known) and one not so much (maybe in his late 30s), both looking intently at a board subdivided with strange, bent lines, lopsided marbles lying on them in certain ways [22:05] * Jynaru waves to the new guy. [22:06] "Now, you see what happens when you use the green stones? You always use the green stones" his opponent waves to jynaru almost before the DB raises his hand "Try using the black stones for once." [22:06] you notice that there are several containers with various colored beads in them [22:07] "Ok, but first I am going to beat you using the green stones." [22:07] [22:07] "Anyway, I brought Sanyet. Oh, and this is his wife, Cicada." [22:08] * Cicada bows, then rises again to look intently at the two men. [22:08] "Ah, well done. Go bring their things to the appropriate rooms. Come on, Sanyet, pull up a seat. You too, Augustus Moon. Might as well see this too." [22:09] "What, watch me get beat down by the falling stones master?" [22:09] * Jynaru nods. "Uh... which are the appropriate rooms?" [22:09] "Yes," the elderly man says, looking up from his stones, "Watch you get .." he turns to look at Jynaru [22:10] "Blue for the man, yellow for the woman." [22:10] * Jynaru shrugs. "You're the wise one." [22:11] "Might as well take the usual for yourself," he nods to you in appreciation. [22:11] * Jynaru will collect the stuff and head off to set up the rooms. Yay for being the hotel busboy. [22:11] Anyhow.. where was I... ah yes. [22:11] * Cicada looks between the two. [22:11] "What will happen? What are they going to do?" [22:13] Sanyet doesn't seem to have a clue, but the elderly sidereal picks up a red marble and throws it up into the air. it bounces off the celing (you notice now some kind of target has been taped up there) and bounces back into the board, hitting a mass of stones and knocking them all into each other. [22:13] "Will Sanyet be allright with them?" [22:15] "You're leaving me with them?" he sounds shocked [22:15] "But..." the older sidereal interrupts [22:15] "No, she won't be leaving you. Right, Cicada?" he says, responding in seatounge [22:16] * Jynaru wanders in and sighs sadly, seeing that the game is over. [22:16] "And it looked so interesting." [22:16] jynaru is quite ignored by the elderly sidereal [22:17] "Just for a few minutes. But hell! I don't even know if that is safe." [22:17] the old man chuckles [22:18] "I'm sure jynaru will try to stop me before I do anything" [22:18] The younger man seems confident "See?" "Oh, shut up." [22:18] "Try? Succeed. You're not THAT good." [22:19] the old man laughs and then nods to cicada. [22:19] "Go on, we'll wait. I was sure you were coming.. but one never can be sure. The stars can be difficult to read, sometimes." [22:21] * Cicada gives the old man a hard stare and after squeezing Sanyet's hand one last time for assurance, go with Jynaru. "I am not going to like that old fart, i just know it." [22:21] Sanyet pushes himself back into the wooden chair to await the inevitable [22:22] * Jynaru leads her up to the one of the 5 yellow rooms and shows her the many amenities of the Secret Sidereal Sitadel. [22:23] "Later I guess I'll show you the lower levels and the more interesting aspects of the pool." [22:24] strangely, you can't hear anything from downstairs when you're on the top floor. Must be so that the ravening partygoers don't wake the sleepers [22:24] "I bathe privately or with Sanyet alone. Thank you very much." [22:25] * Cicada do give Jynaru a small smile, though. [22:25] "Much as I'm sure I'd enjoy that before my throat got slit, that's not what I mean." [22:26] * Jynaru waves a hand as he tries to find the words. "There's these... floating glowy things. You channel a mote into one, it turns into something. I got flowers, and I thought it would be interesting to see if what you got." [22:27] "So here are toys to pass the time. I suddenly feel so much more at home. Can I conjure a peasant house and the attached shed where i build my hospital?" [22:28] "I doubt it. You'll probably get things related to yourself, and I don't think ice is a great building material." [22:29] * Cicada unpacks her and Sanyets luggage. [22:30] "Shall we go back?" [22:30] "Yeah, might as well. See what's going on and get an introduction to the new guy. Oh, and that old bastard's name." [22:32] * Cicada nods and follows. [22:32] Jynaru and Cicada's little chat completed, they return downstairs to find sanyet staring at the new game obliviously, while they speak to each other in a rather confusing dialect of old realm [22:32] they seem to be talking about fish, raindrops and lollipops [22:32] "So, how'd things go, San?" [22:33] He looks up, shrugging [22:33] "They seem more interseted in the game, really. [22:33] * Cicada sits down next to Sanyet. [22:34] a few beads lie on the table already, and the younger one picks up a yellow bead, throwing it up, watching it fall down ont the board with a plink, missing everything [22:34] Sanyet takes cicadas hand again as you watch their strange game [22:35] apparently the goal of the game is to throw the dice into the air, without putting any effort into it at all, and when the beads fall, they make cool patterns [22:35] they can add more than one bead at a time, actually as many as they can fit in their hand, and occasionally you are all rained down upon by several dozen beads that entirely msis the board [22:36] "Excuse me sirs. I believe we are your guests who have travelled far to come here. And that it was one of you who insisted on haste. Has common courtesy been forgotten?" [22:36] however, regardless of this intrinsic chaos, even up into the very end, somehow it always seems to end up with some significance. Or at least something they recognize oddly. [22:37] * Cicada says as she dodges beads with an annoyed expression on her face. [22:37] "Hmmm?" the old man looks up from the nearly-finished game. [22:37] "I insisted on haste, actually. He's lazy." [22:37] "Ah, I am sorry." he smiles graciously. "It is rare for me to meet old friends." [22:38] the man at the other end of the table nods slowly [22:38] "How did you get them here so fast?" he asks jynaru questioningly [22:40] "It's actually easy. Horses, and talking to them." [22:40] "Hmm... I see." [22:40] "What, you thought I was going to strike in the night and throw him in a bag and run back here?" [22:40] "She'd kill me! Twice!" [22:41] he gestures to the long table, which you know realized is covered with food.. though you could swear it wasn't a moment before. [22:41] "Really? [22:47] meanwhile the two men have picked up their game and help themselves to their drinks, and you notice that there are three mugs fillwed with a light liquid that tastes like pure water [22:47] * Cicada forces Puuhda to eat something wholesome before he gorges himself on the desserts. [22:48] Puuhda is more interseted in eating desserts however and manages to trick you by hiding desserts under wholesome food [22:48] * Cicada then tries out a few bites for herself, wanting to hold back, but having that damn ravenious appetite that begun recently. [22:48] They nod as you return to the table and introduce themselves. [22:49] the elder's name is sitting fawn; the youngers name is silvering rain [22:49] * Cicada has her mind elsewhere much of the time. She is easy to trick. [22:49] this is the elders' manse and the younger is just visiting, intersted in meeting the new sidereal. [22:50] * Jynaru takes a small break and looks at the two as he sips the drink. "So, what is with the names? Siting Fawn, Innocent Cub Sister, Silvering rain. You take new ones when you exalt or something?" [22:52] they nod. "You see, the stars work on very simple astrological principles. These principles are easiest compared to living things, or aspects of the breathing world. Thus, names likes these are not only useful in identifiying the inner trains of a person, but also are invariably unique. [23:11] "It is entirely likely that some ambush will be staged upon the army at some point, and it could destroy everyone cought within the crossfire. As long as the fighting is kept to the pass, that won't be much of a problem." [23:11] "Safer, grand. If we don't get rid of the demon, how can we get off the island?" [23:11] He lauhs slowly. [23:11] "I don't know, Jynaru, but there seems to be a way." [23:12] Sitting fawn takes a sip from his mug and reminds you that there is a way into the island [23:12] "Great. As for the ambush, that's one of the reasons I thought you might be useful. You seem to have a bit of a knack about predicting things." [23:13] "Possibly, getting out is as simple as waiting for somebody to come in, and going out at the same time... [23:13] he shrugs [23:13] "We've never been able to risk that anyhow." [23:14] Silvering Rain nods sagely. "Predicting demons is very difficult, and besides, our preditictions are not always that precise. It would be foolhardy to wager that many lives on one star." [23:15] "So you say we just wait until next calibration, and leave then?" [23:15] Sanyet listens in on the discussion in seatounge, apparently more interested in his drink than the current conversation. [23:16] "Sorry, but i have made several binding promises here. The rest can leave for all I care. But I will work against that demon." [23:16] "It is possible... there might be more ways than that." [23:17] * Cicada prods Sanyet to ask those men something. He is kind of a major actor here and his future might depend on those superior farts. [23:17] Sanyet looks up from his drink. [23:17] he looks annoyed at cicada's prodding but then sighs and nods to the two. [23:18] "So how long do I have?" [23:19] "Seven years, just about." [23:19] Sanyet looks incongruously at Jynaru [23:20] "He wanted you here before then, you realize." [23:20] * Cicada glares angrily at Jynaru. [23:20] the sidereals nod slowly. "You understand, of coures, the intense training that will be necessary to allow you to be ready for the second breath..." [23:21] Sitting Fawn's voice takes on a grave tone, "It would not do for you to be slain outright or even go mad from the visions that wrack our kind upon the awakening to the working of fate." [23:22] Sanyet sighs and nods. [23:23] * Jynaru smiles blandly at them. "Besides, I'm sure the training won't be entirely based here." [23:23] Sanyet doesn't really seem to want to say anything [23:23] * Cicada reach over to give Sanyet's hand a reassuring squeeze. [23:23] "And what about our life outside?" [23:24] He seems to be more interested in not thinking about what is going on. [23:25] "There will be parts of the training that cannot occur here, but it would be foolishness to return to the cities." [23:25] "Either of us would be found out for sure, and if they learned your secret, and they would, in time, then it would mean more than just your husband's death." [23:26] "And how many arms will this student lose your relaxed training environment?" That's the sound of me not caring." [23:31] suddenly, in the middle of the table, a small globe pops up [23:32] inside it mists surround something, but slowly they clear.. [23:32] to reveal a man struggling in the pond above [23:33] It's Tei, and he looks rather bad. His arm is broken in two places, as and his left leg is flailing unnaturally, and his other good arm is stuck in a crutch... which is jammed in the side of the pool [23:33] he's clearly drowning. [23:33] "Tei?!" [23:33] "I TOLD him I wasn't leading a damn tour." [23:33] The sidereals look at each other annoyed [23:34] "Quick! Help him! Let him in! Do something!" [23:34] * Jynaru stands up and sighs. "Well?" [23:34] sitting fawn runs his hand over the top of the sphere, zooming on on tei, who you can see slowly drowning to death.. [23:35] "Please!!" [23:35] sitting fawn nods. "Go bring him in, jynaru." [23:35] * Jynaru flicks on his run-fast charm and bolts up to the main chamber, before pausing and leapin up through the roof and dragging Tei down to the main chamber. [23:36] Sitting fawn looks at cicada. [23:36] "You can help him, can you not?" [23:36] * Cicada wiggles out of Sanyet's arms and run after Jynaru. [23:36] * Jynaru thumps Tei on the chest. "Damn you, I said I wasn't running a tour!" [23:37] "But no, you had to go and get your punk-ass drowned, didn't you?" [23:37] he smiles as you go, and sanyet squirms under their combined glare.... [23:37] * Tei is in no position to argue with Jyn [23:37] * Cicada immideately kneels next to Tei, examining his wounds. "Lie still, I will see to that. By the gods! What happened to you?!"
