Then she goes back to the natives. [21:04] Tabius, you have learned how to speak it vaugely, but you're still going to need to spend the rest of the day clearing it up [21:04] * Tei is lying in hsi hut listening to the new construction [21:04] Cicada, before you can leave.... [21:05] You are looking out into the bay of the island when you hear.. something [21:05] * Tabius_C is trying to talk to the Shamans about their magics. [21:05] it sounds like somebody calling, and you hear a splash [21:05] * Cicada gets up and looks out over the sea. [21:07] Another call, then another splash [21:07] closer this time, you think you see something out there [21:08] Tabius you are using the shaman's magical skill as a kind of vocabulary check, as you discuss the finer points of binding spirits and artifact creation, you realize that their pracitces are quite advanced, even for the realm [21:08] * Cicada wades out trying to get closer and make out what it is . [21:09] * Tabius_C expresses that he is rather impressed and is all the more eager to learn and teach things. [21:10] Cicada you wade out and are amazed at the speed it is approaching. It seems to be a white puff of something, closing fast [21:10] Tabius you will have to wait on that, you're rather single-mindedly picking up the language right now [21:11] * Cicada open up to the dishevelled Puuhda inside her tunic. "Somebody you know?" Then she swims out to it as fast as she can. [21:12] * Tabius_C concentrates as much as possible on the language so that he can be eager. [21:12] "Puuda!" he says, noting the positive [21:13] The little puff is getting closer, and you hear it crying "Yee! Yee!" [21:14] It splashes across the water, and then when it is close enough, leaps at you, leaving a ring of water flying into the air as it skips across the surface of the sea [21:16] * Cicada has Puuhda riding on her head as she swims out. [21:18] When you are only waist deep the little sopping wet creature flies into your arms, shaking uncontrollably "Yee! Yee! [21:20] * Cicada graps the wet little furbal. "Kimyee?! You can see him watching from a circle of the people [21:35] Some of them are dressed now, in simple loincloths. Those Tabius are talking to seem to be held in high respect. [21:36] * Cicada walks over, bows, and waits to be adresssed. [21:36] Meanwhile, the building is taking shape. It now appears to be some kind of octoganal structure with a pavillion. You aren't sure what it is, though. [21:36] * Tabius_C tries in vain to not be seen staring and starts up another round of questions and answers. [21:36] * Tabius_C when Cicada gets near Tabius stands and bows. [21:37] "How goes Tei's treatment Sable?" [21:38] "It goes poorly, sir Tabius. He needs magical treatment to recover quickly. And I don't know if this unskilled .... If I should be the one to treat him..." [21:39] "Well you have proved to have more real knowledge of medicine than I have so your better suited. However, I think another round of magical flames can be arranged . [21:40] Thank you, sir Tabius. I woul ... Tei would be most grateful." [21:42] * Tabius_C gets up and goes over to the tent pulling the flap back to check and see if Tei is decent. [21:42] Tei is just lying there, really [21:42] * Tabius_C seeing that he is Tabius enters and smiles down at Tei, "Time for some more healing flames my friend?" [21:42] * Tei looks up to see tabs enter [21:43] "I would be gratefull. I feel so useless lying here." [21:43] "So be it then" [21:43] * Cicada sits down outside the tent, listening to the natives (and to the talk inside) while she tries to dry Kimyee. [21:44] * Tabius_C begins casting and lays his hands on Tei watching the flames smother bruises, mend cuts, and reknit flesh. [21:44] (hey, I only hit him once..) [21:44] Kimyee is like a mop, but he is easily squeeeze-dried [21:45] Tei, after a few moments, you are feeling a lot better [21:46] * Tabius_C looking a little weary stands with a smile, "There you go, should be feeling better I hope?" [21:47] * Tei stands [21:47] "AH standing up never felt so good." [21:49] "Excellent, we have our Immaculate Monk back with little worse the ware." [21:49] "Are the natives still behaving themselves [21:49] ?" [21:49] "They have been building something all day......" [21:50] "Yes well. We think Cicada may have accidentally told them to make it." [21:50] Outside, one of the almost-naked guys is offering cicada fruit from a basket [21:51] * Tei loosens his blades in their sheathes less they stick there from inattention [21:51] "Ah, well better get outside before I burn the tent down." [21:51] * Cicada takes the fruit, tries her best "thank you" and offers it to Puuhda nad Kimyee. [21:52] * Tei follows Tabs outside the hut. and gazes at the structure trying to make sense of it [21:53] Puuhda and Kimyee slowly eat, as you slowly dry from the gentle sea breeze, though the light spray of the sea still reaches this far [21:53] * Cicada looks up at the two of them, and quickly scramble up to kneel on one knee. "Sirs, I must apologize for the inconvenience my hysterics have caused." [21:54] "oh would you stop apologizing all the time. Honestly." [21:54] "Apology accepted. I trust this wont happen again? [21:54] [in his best "mother Tei" impression} [21:56] "Yes, I understand. I shall trouble none of you no more." (winches visibly on saying this) "Now, if the honored lords will excuse me..." [21:56] * Cicada stands up, bows, and turns to leave. [21:57] "Sable?" [21:57] * Tei mutters to himself "Well that was a bad Idea" [21:57] * Cicada freezes on the spot. [21:58] * Tabius_C looks into her eyes, "It was not ment as a chastizement nor to put you down," he says in a very kind voice. [21:58] "Your presence is very much appreciated. How is Puuhda doing through all of this?" [21:59] "No of course not, sir Tabius. I would not dare think of it as such." [22:00] "Puuhda is fine. And this is Kimyee from the ship. Kimyee is Arianna's friend. He got lost and found his way here." [22:00] "Kimyeeee! [22:00] * Tabius_C with a slight bow of the head and smile to Kimyee, "Good to meet the friend of a friend." [22:00] "MY turn to apologize I suppose. I'm sorry I was short with you, but we have no Idea how the others are doing, nor what any of these people are saying." [22:01] * Cicada has Puuhda sitting on her shoulder. She nods at Tei and gives him a faint smile. Puuhda, however growls at him. [22:02] "I have been learning some of their language up till now.....its going well, but I have no where near the talents with languages that ou do Sable. [22:02] "woah, Whate'd I do to you little one." [22:03] * Cicada quickly graps Puuhda and stuff him into her tunic. [22:03] Puuhda gives a look of surprise and then is gone [22:03] "Nothing, sir Peleps. I am sure Puuhda is just tired." [22:04] Kimyee looks down into Cicada's blouse uncertainly [22:04] "Well the others are big boys and girls and can hopefully take care of themselves, well at least Tala can. [22:04] * Tabius_C so very much wish's he was in Kimyee's possition. [22:05] * Cicada opens her tunic for Kimyee to crawl in if he wants to. [22:22] * Tei goes off to happily meditate in the gazebo [22:23] * Tabius_C will go and stand in the gazebo and smile at the builders and wonder around showing his appreciation of it. [22:25] * Cicada leaves the gazebo as the two approach and go to the other natives to sit down, eat and talk. [22:26] The natives pass the time easily, although a few of them make passes at you. [22:26] * Cicada suddenly finds her stomach to be growling even more fiercely than Puuhda did. [22:27] They will no doubt offer you more food, of course [22:27] * Cicada asks questions about the tribe, its size, where they live and so on. [22:27] * Tabius_C will take aside one of the females and asks about blue flowers and where he could find some. [22:27] * Cicada also meets seduction attempts with 'retreat without engagement'. [22:28] Tabius you will be guided if you want [22:28] * Tei is meditating on how to be fed other than by half-naked native girls [22:28] well you could also be fed by half-naked native men [22:29] The tribe is called the "Brilliant Soul" [22:29] * Tabius_C lets himself be guided and asks about red flowers as well. [22:29] Minor tribes like this one cover the shoreline [22:30] This one is about... 500 people [22:30] maybe 1000 [22:30] [is there any one cooking?] [22:30] They don't seem to keep perfectly accurate count. [22:30] Many of them are cooking, both for themselves, and your pleasure [22:30] That's the average size for a tribe on this island, although there are larger, more advanced communities inland [22:31] Apparently even a few cities [22:31] "So you live on the shoreline, like this, in tents?" [22:31] " [22:31] * Cicada 's vocabulary and grammar are improving rapidly. [22:31] "No, only during the Calibration Festival. For the rest of the year, we try to stay off shore. The shores bring ill omens to those whom beauty does not touch." [22:32] * Tei after meditating for a bit, and not being able to ignore his stomach. I finnaly settle on the cook with the most clothing, walk over and hold out my bowl. hoping (S)he hets the picture [22:33] Apparently the tribe fights for the patronage of any visitors, because all visitors are immensly powerful. [22:33] Visitors only come once every decade, though it is inconsistant [22:33] Sometimes one every year, sometime none for a century [22:33] you are the first for 35 years [22:33] "And why do you use animal costumes? Does some visitors have the shape of animals?" [22:36] "It is a ritual. We honor the patron animals of our tribes. Birds are the most powerful, for they are the closest to the sun. But there were many birds, who were greater than those that live now. It is these birds we pay homage to, the god-birds of the past." [22:36] "They were called the Thunderbirds, for they had the bodies of men and the power of the birds, the emmisaries between man and god." [22:37] * Cicada nods and make a note to confer on the meaning of those birds with Tabius. If she can make herself approach him... [22:37] "Sometimes Thunderbirds come to the island. You are not thunderbirds, but you certainly seem... similar." [22:37] "Do you speak with the gods?" [22:38] "A few of my fellow travellers might have that ability. I am a mere servant." [22:39] * Tei has gotten his food and come to try to get in the conversation with cicada and the native [22:39] "Ahh, you indeed are blessed with great companions. They must bring you great honor." [22:39] * Cicada notice Tei, and ,somewhat reluctantly, make room for him to sit next to her. [22:40] "Ahhh! you are the one called Tei?"
