"Here, I believe is where we depart." Remembering the warning, you try not to look despite the screams of alternating pain and pleasure, amidst the crashing of the waves and the strange, grumblings bubbling of the beast below.... [01:05] Whatever it is is gone... but still on the prow of the ship, is the lithe form of the woman.... it is too far to see any details, but she seems to be hanging their limply, not moving a bit. [01:05] * Cicada tries to get Tala up in a sitting position, daring a look back to see if Tei is alright. [01:06] * Tabius is steadying Tei with an arm while he stears the boat. [01:06] * Maris mutters something about a waste of a good women and turns back to the island watching it. [01:06] Tei is nearly fine, but is swaying and wincing muchly, despite his obvious attempts at self control. Tabius' support helps this somewhat... [01:06] and then, it begins. [01:06] At first it is quiet, as you row over the waves, closer to shore, and farther into the bay [01:07] A light thumping, barely at the edge of your perceptions. [01:07] then it grows, louder and louder [01:07] thumpa-thump thump thumpa thump thump thumpa thump thump thwamp [01:07] over and over again [01:07] "Anybody else hear that, or is it just my head?" [01:07] (would make cool noises with his lips but unfortunately, no dice) [01:07] "Affirmative" [01:08] "I hear it." [01:08] "Joy. I assume that's heralding something else crappy happening." [01:09] "Guess so." [01:09] "Nothing we can't handle though." [01:09] You hear paddles, and in the light of the morning, you see small skiffs take off from the islands, like some bizzare combination of a kyack and a skiff, their smooth, even strokes heading towards the rocks that you, in the dawn of the day [01:09] can see encircling the island [01:09] "Unless there is another circle of solar with high magics on the island." [01:10] and then, towards the center, at a base of the mountain that rises directly in front of you comes a bright red, scarlet light [01:10] "Ah we could take em." Maris stands up in the boat to get a better view of the boats and the light. [01:10] "Fine. You take them. I'll just watch." [01:10] flames burn from the ground, and quickly, faster than you can even blink, a blade of fire shoots out, like a giant blade cutting through the air and the water before it, leaving a trail of bubbling water and steam in the water, and apparently small fires on land. [01:11] you notice that crowds are gathered on lands, far away from these streaks (which all seem raylike in nature and concentric), and as you row, the boats pass you by unheedingly, though one of the blades of fire passes close enough for it to rock the boat [01:12] Tala stirs [01:12] and opens her eyes.. [01:12] thumpa-thump thump thumpa thump thump thumpa thump thump thwamp [01:12] thumpa-thumba thumpa-thumba thumpa-thumba thump [01:13] you think they're dancing on land, and you wonder where you should set down to land [01:13] * Maris looks for a spot that would be out of sight of the natives [01:13] Are we in a bay of some sort?
